Notes :
This special train ran in celebration of fifty years of electric
trains running between London & Brighton. The well turned out 4CIG EMU's
completed the journey of just over 50 miles in 41 1/2 minutes, an average speed
of just under 75mph, a remarkable trip time considering the traffic levels on a
summer Saturday coupled to the incessant permanent way work on this route and
the unforeseen problems created by several weeks of extremely hot and thundery
weather.
