Notes :

Greg Beecroft comments: An engineering work possession at Blackfriars was lifted specially to allow the tour to operate.  The stop at Maidstone East was for removal of the lighting fuses, which were replaced at Gillingham.  At the time the suburban area was still energised at nominal 660V and 4-SUBs were not allowed on 750V lines with the heating and lighting fuses in place.  It being August, the heating fuses had been removed at Selhurst, but the tour went through several tunnels in the London area so lighting had to be operative there.  It was agreed that the tour could pass through the short tunnels east of Maidstone East in darkness, but routing via Tonbridge would not have been possible, as that would have meant going through Sevenoaks tunnel with no lights.  The stop at Ashford was for a visit to Chart Leacon Open Day.  Departure was late, because not all passengers had been able to get onto the very full shuttle service from the depot, but arrival back at London Bridge was punctual.
