Notes :
(1)
Originally uploaded as having run on 8th October in error. An off-train option was offered for passengers to leave the train at Church Fenton and travel by DMU to Keighley for a return steam-hauled trip on the K&WVR, returning then by DMU to York for the journey home. A limited number of passengers were allowed to join at Doncaster for the off-train option (n.b. no seating was allocated to these passengers on the main train; they were expected to stand between Doncaster and Church Fenton and York to Doncaster on the return leg).
(2) Organised by David Harding, with assistance from Jane Harding and Geoffrey Hey, with the objectives of (a) saving York Minster (a £2m appeal was running at the time) and (b) aiding The Transport Trust (whose aim was to safeguard the interests of those who loved and appreciated 'The Great Steam Era' in the UK). It is reported that one of the train sponsors was Three Castles Cigarettes.
(3) Route confirmation required - above is from booked timings. 'Sunstream' photographed the train passing Church Fenton heading for York at 13:02 and again at Naburn Swing Bridge south of York at 19:15 suggesting the York departure around 19:05 actual.
(4) Although all paperwork and timings seen by the Webmaster confirm the train's destination as being York, Arthur Haymes photographed it at Beningborough north of York, heading south; it is not known if this was an empty stock move or some form of tour extension, official or otherwise, during the layover at York - confirmation/details required.
