(1) Whilst at Manchester Victoria a short 'DMU tour' to Manchester Piccadilly & back took place. John Tuffs comments : 'Locomotive 70013 Oliver Cromwell was, I believe, to be the last steam locomotive that hauled a passenger train over the Derby to Manchester route as from 1 July 1968 the route beyond Matlock to Chinley North Junction closed to passenger services with the section as far as Topley Pike closing completely'.
