Notes : 
 (1) John Clifford comments: I joined the tour at Reading. The first part of the journey was slow as we were following the 09.10 Reading - Newbury stopper. We stopped at Newbury to let the slightly late 09.04 Paddington - Penzance pass. Then, on a slack schedule we proceeded to gain time, so much so that we left Taunton over 30 minutes early. This could not last. We were held at Norton Fitzwarren to let the 07.56 Sheffield - Paignton pass (the 07.56 was 10 minutes late at this point). Then we continued and went into the loop at the former Tiverton Junction where the 10.03 Paddington - Penzance went by on time. At Exeter St Davids the train ran into platform 6 and we waited there until the 09.35 Newquay - Sheffield had come up. A further stop at Dawlish Warren saw the slightly late 08.05 Manchester - Paignton pass. Arrival at Paignton was 9 minutes early. The loco working on the Dartmouth Steam Railway was BR 4MT no. 75014. I left the return train at Exeter St Davids so that I could get to Bristol for the following day’s 'Cornishman Express'.
