(1) John Clifford comments: This was an unusual route for a "Steam Dreams" trip to Salisbury, out via the SW main line & returning via the Portsmouth Direct line. For those interested in track we left Waterloo on the Windsor Reversible line to Queens Road where we crossed to the Up Windsor through the station then to the Down Windsor Slow afterwards. The only other comment to make was that the stock was late arriving at Salisbury for the return journey, hence the late start. We had no trouble in getting back on time and would have had on time arrival at Waterloo if we had not been held by signals outside the station. My only other observation on the day was about lunch in Salisbury. At the fish & chip shop where I ate, I asked for an "OAP special" & was told I couldn't have one as it was available only on Mon., Wed. & Fri. This was Thur! The trip was obviously arranged for the wrong day!
