From the advertising leaflet: "The Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, Dame Lorna Muirhead DBE, will lead Civic guests, 'Friends', Schoolchildren and train sponsors aboard the 'Bowring Centenarian' for the Civic Celebration organised by Friends of Bowring Park. Sponsorship, available on the day, includes lunch, re-enactment ceremony, classic vehicles and fun fair". "All because Alderman William Benjamin Bowring JP bought the 100 acre Roby Hall estate in January 1906 and a year later presented it to the City of Liverpool, on the 12th June 1907, "for the use of the people for all time" still upheld by the present trustees, Knowsley Borough".
