(1) Andy Pullar comments: Problems at Perth turning, watering and coaling the loco meant the train arriving at Edinburgh after the station had been closed at the end of the scheduled services for the day. From memory the problems were;
a) alterations to the Yard layout at Perth affecting access to the turntable and hydrant.
b) low pressure in the alternative water supply at Perth station.
c) coal being manually lifted from the platform to the loco tender because the coal merchant turned up with a lorry without the necessary equipment to assist unloading.
