UK - Class 44

The first ten 'Peaks' were so named because they were named after mountains in the UK. In the original BR diesel numbering scheme they also had the distinction of being numbered D1 to D10, later 44001 to 44010. The last three of the class in service, 44004, 44007 & 44008 lasted until November 1980.
