UK - Class 42

The 'Warship' class were both class 42's as well as 43's - D800-D832 & D866-D870 being the BR Swindon built class 42. D833-D865 were built by North British and given the class 43 designation. No NBL examples survived into preservation. Three locos outlasted the rest of the fleet - D818 'Glory', D821 'Greyhound' & D832 'Onslaught'. D821 passed straight into preservation with the DTG. D818 & D832 were used by the BR research department and when Swindon Works closed D818 was cut-up very quickly. D832 was sold into a life of preservation from the Tech Centre at Derby where it was usually based.
