Notes :
(1) 27th September was planned to take the train from Derby to East Anglia (Norwich) with a run on the Bure Valley Railway.
(1) Robert Frise comments: There were problems with this tour right from the onset. Industrial action on the railways was threatened which meant the day trip to East Anglia had to be abandoned and the move to Scotland brought forward a day.  Thursday & Friday had to be substituted with coach excursions. Watching the evening news in the hotel, which was dominated by the sinking of the Estonia, revealed that strike action was cancelled but it was too late to change anything Thursday meant a rather long coach journey to the Strathspey Railway and Friday consisted of a coach tour around Aberdeen, a visit to the Caladonian railway and a castle.  One passenger fell down the steps at Buckfastleigh and had to leave the tour and two more left at Derby as their son had been involved in a bad car accident. The train was delayed at Reading due to a problem with the brakes and one of the stewards missed the train on Tuesday and had to catch it up using service trains.
