(1) Greg Beecroft comments: The outward journey was enlivened by the presence of a Canadian film crew, working on a feature on the British way of life.  Think of the most inconvenient place for a locomotive failure.  Inside Ffestiniog Tunnel would have to be a contender – and that’s what happened.  Huge lateness on the way back.  Passengers decanted onto service trains etc.
