Notes :
(1) William R Lynch comments: An addendum to the itinerary stated that the train was to be routed via Miles Platting in both directions rather than (presumably advertised) Cheetham Hill.
(2) William R Lynch comments: Reversal was at Bessacarr Jn rather than Loversall Carr Jn, probably because the disruption risk to the East Coast Main Line would have been too high.
(3) Phil Wieland comments: the tour was booked via Selby Canal Curve on its way into York but went straight up the then-new main line. Following complaints at York, a two car unit was borrowed to run round the curve during the scheduled lunch break, to the chagrin of those who had headed for the pub on arrival at York. I don't recall why we couldn't use the main set for this, perhaps it had gone for fuelling?
(4) William R Lynch comments: The itinerary predicted the reversal point at Eastgate to be at the BR/Cement Works boundary at about the Rookhope Burn underbridge (grid ref NY952385), and the actual point was certainly west of the (extant) station platform.
(5) Route confirmation required prior to Wakefield Kirkgate (outward) and after Halifax (on the return).
