(1) Howard Parker comments: A DMU connecting service ran from Burton on Trent
calling at Derby and Long Eaton to Nottingham. Other excursions running to
Edinburgh were 1Z76 from Coventry, 1Z36 from Huddersfield and 1Z81 from Walsall
(via Shrewsbury). The late start from Edinburgh on the return was due to waiting
the ECS arriving (1Z81 was similarly delayed) and the extended stop at Newcastle
to allow an up East Coast HST to overtake.
