(1) John A. Thickett provided a set of booked timings (shown below) for a Barnsley to Didcot train he travelled on on this date; is this one in the same tour? John records that the excursion was organised to coincide with the Great Western Society open day at Didcot where it was stated that 2-6-2T 6106 was to be in steam. John also reports that on the return journey the special was booked to terminate at Sheffield; The 20.10 ordinary service train being delayed until 20.20 to be used by passengers returning to Barnsley.
