(Flying Scotsman Summer Tour)
| Loco Used | steam: 4472 'Flying Scotsman' |
Route :
| Loco | Route |
| 4472 | London Kings Cross - (via ECML, Selby) - York - Sunderland - Newcastle |
| 4472 | Newcastle - (via ECML, Selby) - London Kings Cross |
Notes :
(1) Route confirmation required - above is from booked timings &
ticket however Dave McGee believes the outward leg did go via
Sunderland. A covering letter that was sent out to passengers detailed that this
was to be the last tour of 4472 in 1969 before the loco was shipped to the
U.S.A. in September 1969 for an extensive visit until the middle of 1970. It
appears the originally intended non-stop outward run to York had to be altered
late in the planning due to engineering works north of Doncaster which resulted
in stop at Doncaster to take on a pilotman, with the train being routed then via
Normanton. After a break in York the run to Newcastle and back was advertised to
be a non-stop run. On final departure from York a non-stop run to London was
planned - organisers suggesting the actual arrival time into Kings Cross would
be by 11pm rather than the booked time (given in the covering letter as 23.20
but on the back of the ticket as 23.30).

| Location | Booked (out) | Booked (rtn) |
| Kings Cross | 09.00d | 23.30a |

Note :
(1) The printed timings on the rear of the tour ticket gave the arrival time
back into York as 19.50 however the covering letter stated it to be 18.50 with
an hour and six minutes being allowed to coal and water 4472, therefore it is
assumed the 19.50 arrival time was a typing error.
