Oliver Cromwell was, I believe, to be the last steam locomotive that hauled a
passenger train over the Derby to Manchester route as from 1 July 1968 the route
beyond Matlock to Chinley North Junction closed to passenger services with the
section as far as Topley Pike closing completely'.
