Nigel Gresley
| Loco Used | 4498 'Sir Nigel Gresley' |
| Stock Used | load 12 |
Route :
| Loco | Route |
| 4498 | Crewe - (via WCML) - Carlisle |
| 4498 | Carlisle - (via S&C) - Settle Jn - Hellifield - ?Blackburn? - Crewe |
Notes:
(1) Route confirmation required. This was 4498's first mainline outing in
preservation, the northbound run was non-stop. There was some doubt over whether
this ran on Saturday 1st April of Sunday 2nd April however David Whittaker
confirms it was definitely the Saturday. He also comments: the loss of time over the
Settle & Carlisle on this run was due to a) very difficult conditions with
sleet and snow showers on the climb to Ais Gill and 4498 slipping frequently
with around 450 tons. I remember her slipping a few times as she passed me near
Kirkby Stephen and b) very restrained running down from Blea Moor to Settle Jn.
