Notes :
(1) John Clifford comments : My particular memory of this tour is that it took place on a scorching hot summer's day. We kept reasonably well to time being delayed on the final leg by signal stops at Selsdon & near East Croydon. I can also recall see a 'Brush' type 2 (now class 31) on the link between New Cross Gate & the East London line with a return South Coast - East London excursion via the East London line & Liverpool Street. It would impossible to recreate the tour even if the locos were available since over a quarter of the mileage which we covered is now shut (Peasmarsh Jn - Christs Hospital - Hardham Jn - Midhurst & Polegate - Redgate Mill Jn).
