(1) Advertising leaflet states that a special train would run from London 'if traffic conditions permit' - otherwise it is assumed service train(s) were used as it is stated that accommodation would be 'strictly limited'. Fares were also available from Brighton and Portsmouth - it is assumed these are using service trains. Use of 'special trains' on the RH&DR is mentioned in the advert; 'programme including a complete tour of the line, inspection of the engine sheds and model railway display etc'.
