Notes :
(1) Jon Condell comments: The tour started late from Crewe due to the late arrival on depot of the train-crew and was then further delayed awaiting a platform at Crewe. National Rail Control were concerned about the Deltic slipping to a stop on Shap bank so the train was looped at Grayrigg whilst all potentially delayed service trains were let pass. In the event the summit at Shap was passed at 53 mph. The train arrived and departed Carlisle approx 80 minutes late. The photo-stop at Dumfries was abandoned and by Newton Jn the delay had been reduced to approx 60 minutes which was maintained until Edinburgh. The crew change actually took place at Johnstone rather than Newton on Ayr. The Spitfire railtour was passed at Bellgrove rather than en-route between Airdrie & Bathgate. The return from Edinburgh to Carlisle ran to time.
