Notes :
(1) This was one of the series of trains run every Sunday from 8th July
to 9th September. It was due to hauled on this day by 34067 "Tangmere" but this
loco failed with a defective air pipe so 6024 was a late substitute.

Tour Review

On the day the outward journey ran well although we stood outside Taunton for 14 mins as our platform was blocked by a Minehead - Weymouth excursion. On the return we suffered from the problem that has affected other steam tours this year, poor coal. We stood in the loop at Tiverton Junc for 55mins while the support crew got the clinker out of the fire allowing the engine to raise boiler pressure. This is the same problem that affected this engine 2 days previously on "The Holiday Express". Due to the delay at Tiverton Loops, and that water had been taken at Exeter, the water stop at Taunton on the return was not taken.
